The Best is Yet to Come

Hello!

Today I want to share a card I made a few weeks ago for a very good friend, Val. She’s also a talented crafter and I thought I would surprise her with a card I made just for her.

You’ll recognise the lovely flower from Birthday Blooms, all in Wisteria Wonder and Wild Wasabi tones… I made the stripey banner with the stripes mask. The sentiment is from “Best Thoughts”.

World of Thanks gift box and card

Hello!

Today I want to share a gift box and a card I made as a present for a wonderful lady, who happens to be my SU upline : the lovely Tracy May. She is the sweetest person ever. She sent me some chocolate at the beginning of the year, and I wanted to thank her for everything she did for me.

I thought it was the perfect time to use the World of Thanks stamp, as I never inked it before. I love the design of this stamp, especially how it can appear as a simple background or be the star of the show, depending on how you work with it.

So here is what I made for Tracy:

Shimmer and Shine - World of Thanks gift box and card - Stampin'up

So World of Thanks is stamped in versamark and heat embossed on a Whisper White cardstock, and then I sponged some Tangerine Tango very lightly on the cardstock. It was then mated on a Tangerine Tango cardstock on a Kraft base.

The butterfly is die cut with the Butterflies Thinlits on a Tangerine Tango cardstock. I added 3 red pearls to add interest.

The little hexagon box is made with the same Tangerine Tango and kraft cardstock. I used the hexagon framelits to create the top panel. You can find the tutorial on how to do it here at Craftyhallett (althought I slightly changed the dimensions). I loved the little boxes she made and they caught my eye on Pinterest : go have a look! 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - World of Thanks gift box and card - Stampin'up

The flower is made with 3 pansies punched and glued together with a Petite Petal on top. The center of the flower and the leaves are made with other punches, not SU though. Again I added a pearl at the center of the flower. If you’ve visited my blog a few weeks ago, maybe you remember seing this flower before : it’s almost the same I put on my easel card.

The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set and it fits perfectly on the smallest banner die cut.

Of course if you were wondering, I put some chocolates in the gift box 😉

I hope you like it 🙂

thanks for visiting!

Circle of Spring Happy New Year

Hi!

I realised I didn’t share the card I sent to wish my family a happy new year. This year I had so little time to craft that I only sent cards to our grandmothers and parents.

I chose a very simple design but I’m very pleased with the result, the colours are so soft! I felt after the horrid events in Paris in November we all needed sweetness.

My card uses the Circle of Spring stamp set and the sentiment comes from Petite Pairs. The card base is made with Pumpkin Pie cardstock and a Very Vanilla panel. The wreath is coloured with Promarkers and die-cut with the matching dies. To finish off, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella on the bow.

The back of the envelope is stamped too, in Wild Wasabi.

Poulettes’ blog hop #6 – Halloween and embossing!

Hello!

  • Sorry, this post will be translated very soon! You can follow my blog (newsletter or RSS feed) so you’ll know when I post a new creation! 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! Black Cat Curvy Keepsake - #Stampin'Up, #Curvy #Keepsake

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Curvy #Keepsake

Produits (Stampin’Up!) :

  • Tamponds : Arbre Protecteur, Perpetual Calendar
  • Papiers : Murmure Blanc, Noir Nu, Gris Souris, Divine Aubergine
  • Inks : Memento Tuxedo Black, Gris Souris,
  • Découpes : Framelits Cercles, Little Letters

Joyeux Noël – Merry Christmas

Hi!

I know, three posts in a row, how crazy is that? 🙂 Well my mojo seems to have kicked back, and a little more time for myself makes it possible to enjoy crafting again…

Today’s card is a CASE from a card made by the very talented Yukari Yoshioka. You can see her stunning card here. I have kept pretty much the same design but I adapted a few things to make it a shaker card.

Shimmer and Shine - Joyeux Noël #StampinUp #Christmas #Trees #Silver #Red #ShakerCard

For the background, I wanted to have the same soft effect as in Yuki’s card, so I stamped the littlest snowflake in Versamark, then embossed it with White embossing powder on Smoky Slate cardstock. The background was then covered with vellum. I absolutely adore this effect, very winter-y 🙂

I draw the “hills” and hand-cut them, adding faux-stitching with a silver gel pen. The sentiment comes from the “Quelques lignes” stamp set and has received the same Versamark / silver embossing powder treatment as the trees. The trees were then punched with the Tree Punch. The little star was stamped in Cherry Cobbler and received a coat of Dazzling Details to give a bit of shine.

I added several foam adhesives to get different layers for the hills and the trees. I made a frame with a piece of acetate to close my shaker card. When I added the sequins, I remembered a trick given by the crafty goddess Jennifer McGuire in one of her amazing videos: to glue some sequins on the background, so that when the card stands up, there are a few sequins still visible… how clever is that?

I hope you like it 🙂 your comments are always welcome!

Supplies (Stampin’Up!):

  • Stamp set: Many Merry Stars, Quelques lignes (sentiment)
  • Inks: Versamark, Cherry Cobbler
  • Embossing powder: Silver Stampin’ Emboss powder, White Stampin’ Emboss powder
  • Dies: Tree Punch
  • Papers: Whisper White cardstock, Smoky Slate cardstock, Window sheets (acetate), White vellum
  • Accent: Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Stampin’ Dazzle Marker Silver
  • Non Stampin’Up : Sequins

Teachers gift – Christmas 2014

Hello!

Today I’ll share the little gifts I made for my daughter’s teachers. If you have seen my last post, you’ll recognize the design! I loved the card so much, I had to make a variation with different colours.

I made a star-shaped box and a matching card for both teachers. I figured out how to make the star box myself, learning from my (many!) mistakes, but you can follow this very convenient tutorial from my friend Tracy. A little time consuming, but simple and effective 🙂

I made the first one in Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate :

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers gift Christmas 2014 - #StampinUp #Star #Framelit Dies - Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate

and the second one in Pool Party and Smoky Slate :

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers gift Christmas 2014 - #StampinUp #Star #Framelit Dies - Pool Party and Smoky Slate

The sentiment is not from Stampin’Up! : I don’t have any French greetings for Christmas… yet 😉

Of course, I filled the boxes with chocolates 🙂 and Daphnée “wrote” a little message for her teachers inside the card.

Supplies (Stampin’Up!):

  • Stamp set: Many Merry Stars
  • Inks: Blushing Bride, Pool Party, Smoky Slate
  • Dies: Stars Framelit Dies
  • Papers: Whisper White cardstock, Smoky Slate cardstock
  • The Rhinestones were coloured with alcohol markers. You can use the wonderful Blendabilities to match whichever colour you want : how cool is that?

Something exciting…

… is coming!

Before our move back to France, I used to go to Tracy‘s classes. I loved them, and was pretty upset to lose all these wonderful moments I shared with Tracy and the ladies who attended the class with me. The simple pleasure of spending a few hours with people who like the same thing as you brightens your whole month! So I decided to dive in and become a demonstrator myself!

This project is so exciting! I hope I’ll meet French people I can share this papercraft love affair with very soon 🙂

To celebrate this, I made a card with the stamps I received in my starter kit. Here it is:

Shimmer and Shine - Feather Thank you

I first used the SU Dotty Mask to create the background with a sponge dauber and white pigment ink. Then I stamped the feathers with Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss (love this combination) and stamped my sentiment in Blackberry Bliss too. I hand cut the fish tail banner and added a few sequins for fun. Simple but effective 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - Feather Thank You

I hope you like it!

I’ll adapt my blog to give all the information you need if you are interested in Stampin’Up! products or classes very soon. Don’t hesitate to contact me by email (on the right) if you need information in between.

Oh, and because a challenge is always fun: I’ll enter this class to the CASology challenge : THREE

CASology Week 112 - Three

Supplies :

  • Stamps: Stampin’Up Four Feathers, Stampin’Up Quelque Lignes (sentiment)
  • Dies: Stampin’Up Feathers Framelits
  • Stencil: Stampin’Up Dots and Stripes Decorative Masks
  • Inks: Stampin’Up Blackberry Bliss, Stampin’Up Hello Honey, White pigment ink

Thanks for your visit,

Have a nice crafty day!

I’ll be back… soon :)

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while without posting, and I didn’t have a chance to explain why it took me so long to write again. We moved from England to France less than a month ago, and we had internet cut off by our provider very early, in fact it was a (bad) surprise. Then once in France, it took very long to have internet in our new apartment, and anyway we were busy unpacking and trying to settle in our new home. Not easy, especially with a toddler and a baby running around 😉

Our eldest (which will turn 3 at the end of next month) has started preschool last week and it’s been a lot for her to deal with (new country, new language, new house, new friends, new teacher…), so it’s  still a bit complicated. She’ll be fine eventually, but for the moment she needs a lot of care and attention, and so does our youngest.

Needless to say, I feel like my Mojo is still hidden somewhere in an unpacked box, I’m struggling to find it back but I long to create again! I hope you’ll bear with me in the meantime.

Now for the creation part, I decided to share a project I made some times ago, using the same technique as in the negative die-cut I did here. In fact, I made this card set and the box before, but couldn’t share it yet as I was planning to offer it.

Shimmer and Shine - Die cut bird box and matching card set

(Sorry for the photo quality, the light was not very good and I had little time to edit it.)

Again as for the thinlit word die-cut, the technique is quite simple : you cut stripes of papers and you glue then side by side, then you die-cut your shape (here, the little bird on the branch) on a piece of white cardstock and you adhere it using foam adhesive to give depth. Of course a few rhinestones had to be added around the bird ;). Don’t forget to stamp your sentiment before adhering the cardstock, or you’ll have trouble stamping it nicely (been there, done that… :p )!

Here is a closer view of the box :

And the inside :

Like this little bird ? you can find it here in its Christmas version, along with its birdhouse 🙂

I hope this will help you wait until next post, where I may have some exciting news to share… 🙂

I’ll enter this project to the CASology Challenge : UNDER.
