A “fairy” sweet Tinkerbell birthday party for my daughters

Hello!

October is a busy month for our family, as our two daughters were born in October, 2 years apart. This year, I wanted to make a party for both as they are in the same preschool and they share friends and fun during school days 🙂

My daughters are fond of princesses, fairies and magic, so I went for a Tinkerbell theme for their birthday party. These are the invites they gave to their friends:

Shimmer and Shine - a "fairy" sweet birthday party

The little fairy comes from the Pixie Dust stamp set from Avery Elle. The cloud border is from Lawn Fanw, and so is the star background stamp. The “Invitation” die cut is from Toga.

I had lot of fun setting up the table, everything had to be color coordinated.

So green clear plates, golden glasses, green butterfly sequins, green and gold glitter… you name it. The girls were all dressed as princesses or fairies!

We even had some “Pixie Dust” for real in these little glass drops… so cool!

The 8 little girls made their own magic wand, and sprinkled some pixie dust on them…

Well… we’re all exausted but happy tonight… the girls had a blast! I wonder what I’ll make next year for their birthday party… but until then, I’ve got Halloween to keep me busy hehehe 😀

Circus birthday

Hello!

Long time no see… I miss it!

Here’s a card I made for my daughter, who has been invited to a birthday last week, and the theme was “the circus”. So, of course I had to make a matching card 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - Circus Birthday

I used the colours (red stripes, blue and yellow stars) on the invite to create my card. I thought the cute lion with his little hat would be perfect for a little boy !

Happy birthday – SU You’ve got this – part 1

Hello!

Today’s card is a CASE from one I spotted on Pinterest. You can have a look at the gorgeous original here. The rich colours and the beautiful colouring made me want to make my own version:

Shimmer and Shine - Happy Birthday - You've Got This, Hey You

The peony from You’ve Got This stamp set is coloured with Promarkers, fussy cut and mounted with foam adhesives on a white “tag” from Spellbinders. While the “tag” was still inside the die, I pierced all around the shape to get this pretty framed effect. I love it!

The sentiment is from a retided SU stamp set, Hey You.

The card base is made with a Simon Says Wide Stripes stamp, in Pacific Point on a Pacific Point cardstock.

I used this pretty peony before: here or here, in different colours. I absolutely adore it. I’m currently waiting for real ones to grow up in my garden… I brought them from UK because they were being eaten down by voracious slugs. Last year they grew up but no flowers bloomed, I guess they needed to recover as they were never able to see the light before these nasty slugs ate them! So I’m hopping this year they’ll bloom 🙂

Please come back tomorrow as I’ll share another version of this card!

Supplies:

  • Stamps: SU! You’ve got this, Hey You (retired), Simon Says Wide Stripes background stamp
  • Inks: Pacific Point, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Markers: Promarkers
  • Papers: Pacific Point
  • Embellishment: Rhinestones

American Football jersey card

Hi!

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday, a very good occasion to go back to my desk and play with papers. It felt good, it truly is a craft therapy for me.

craft therapy

My husband is a big fan of american football. He has played for years and now he’s playing with the Templiers d’Elancourt. So I decided to make him a jersey-shaped birthday card. Let me tell you that was not easy as I had lots of tiny parts to cut by hand… I wish I had a die for that 😉

I’m quite chuffed with the result, to be honest 😉 and most importantly: he was happy too 😉

Supplies:

  • Dies: Stampin’Up! Little Letters Thinlits
  • Papers: SU Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip
  • White gel pen

Happy Birthday, you prehistoric thing!

Hello!

A few days ago was my brother’s birthday. Although I remember him very well when he was a baby (we’re ten years apart), he’s a man now and I like to tease him about his age… So I went to my craftroom and “dug out” the perfect stamp set to make him a birthday card 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - You prehistoric thing! - #StampinUp, #Dinoroar, #Moonlight #DSP

I used a piece of Moonlight DSP that was sitting on my desk for a while, and then I decided to colour the dinos according to this colour scheme, in “Hello Honey” and “Mossy Meadow” tones. The DSP was adhered to a kraft card base, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black like the dinos and mated it on a piece of Hello Honey cardstock. The dinos were mounted with foam tape… and that’s it!

Shimmer and Shine - You prehistoric thing! - #StampinUp, #Dinoroar, #Moonlight #DSP

I could not take a picture of the inside before writing my message to my brother, but you can have a sneak peek here. A strip of DSP was added at the bottom of a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and I stamped the pterodactyl in black, without colouring it, to match the front card. I then hand wrote “… you prehistoric thing!” to finish the card. My brother laughed, mission accomplished 🙂

Supplies (Stampin’Up!) :

  • Stamp sets : Dinoroar (retired!)
  • Inks : Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Papers: Whisper White, Kraft cardstock, Hello Honey
  • DSP : Moonlight DSP stack

Shimmer and Shine - Possum Birthday card - #Bokeh #StampinUp, #Nuts About You

Shimmer and Shine - Possum Birthday card - #Bokeh #StampinUp, #Nuts About You

Watercolor & White Embossed Happy Birthday

Hello!

If you’re anything like me, you spend way too much time on Pinterest, but there are so many wonderful cards to get inspired from! I was looking for an idea to make a card for a dear friend of mine, and one card, absolutely darling, caught my eye : you can have a look here. It has been made by a wonderful crafter, Nicole.

I wanted to CASE it with a specific stamp set in mind, the beautiful Everything Eleanor. I love the flowers of this stamp set and thought they would allow me to play with watercolour like Nicole did.

Here is the card (I had to take a picture with my phone just before leaving for the party, sorry about the poor quality of the photo!) :

Shimmer and Shine - Watercolor and White Embossed Happy Birthday #StampinUp, #EverythingEleanor, #HeyYou

I used pretty much the same techniques as in Nicole’s video. The flowers are stamped in Versamark then embossed in white on watercolour paper. Then I used distress inks to have a watercolour effect and applied them on the saturated wet paper and let the colours blend. You could totally use your usual Stampin’Up inks too, I just wanted to achieve this pale yellow-orange colour and didn’t have the right hues in SU version.

To make the leaves, as there are no leaves in the stamp set, I used another one, Backyard Basics. This is a retired set but I love it. I stamped and embossed the iris, coloured them with distress inks too and fussy cut them.

The sentiment is from “Hey You” stamp set, I think these are lovely and very useful to have in your stash. I used an old pair of craft scissors to make the wavy end on the paper.

The background is made by pressing the distress inks pads on my “crafting mat” (actually it’s a glass cutting board… very convenient : you can clean it in a breeze 😉 ), then spritzing some water and pressing my paper on the mix… this gives a very warm and soft textured colour background, I was pretty happy with it… I added a few gold sequins and faux stitching with a gel pen and my card was ready to give to my friend 🙂

Supplies (Stampin’Up!):

  • Stamp set: Everything Eleanor, Backyard Basics (retired), Hey You
  • Inks: Soft Suede, Versamark
  • Embossing powder: White Stampin’Emboss Powder

If you would like to order any of the items used on the project above, you can click on my on-line shop or just send me an e-mail, I’ll be very happy to help you with your order.
