For You – Stampin’up! Honeycomb Happiness

Hi!

Today I’m entering a card for the Color Throwdown challenge #376. I was attracted by the lovely sweet colours:

CTswatch376

I decided to play with the cute chick from Stampin’up! SAB free gift Honeycomb Happiness:

Shimmer and Shine - For You - Stampin'up, Honeycomb Happiness, Awesomely Artistic, Circle Spring

The card base is a Crumb Cake cardstock. I’ve used the stripes mask for my background, with a sponge dauber and pool party ink. Crumb cake droplets for the awesome Awesomely artistic make a messy background for the cutest chick ever with her balloon. Both chick and balloon have been coloured with alcohol markers and then fussy cut.

Shimmer and Shine - For You - Stampin'up, Honeycomb Happiness, Awesomely Artistic, Circle Spring

A vellum mat adds some sweetness to the whole card, while the sentiment from Circle Spring has been heat embossed on back cardstock for a constrating effect. The balloon received a coat of Wink of Stella and Crystal Effect and some touches of white gel pen to create the light reflection.

Here is the inside:

Sparkly Noël

Hello!

I’m usually not a “sketch” kind of girl. I honestly struggle to follow a sketch, but when I saw the creations of the other “Poulettes”, I had to give it a try.

Of course, I did not follow the sketch exactly, but you can still recognise it, right? right???

Here is the sketch:

12279118_10153398548569541_8915410668296798815_n

and here is what I created…

Shimmer and Shine - Sparkly Noël - #StampinUp, #Wonderful #Wreath, #Petite #Petal #Punch, #Pansy Punch, #Cottage #Greetings

Let’s say some elements decided to move to other parts of the cards 😉

Here is a close-up:

Shimmer and Shine - Sparkly Noël - #StampinUp, #Wonderful #Wreath, #Petite #Petal #Punch, #Pansy Punch, #Cottage #Greetings

Too bad I didn’t have any beautiful Gold SoirĂ©e DSP from SU, it would have been great… I had to find a way to “fake” some, so I made the golden stripes by hand, with a ruler and a gel pen… 😉

Shimmer and Shine - Sparkly Noël - #StampinUp, #Wonderful #Wreath, #Petite #Petal #Punch, #Pansy Punch, #Cottage #Greetings

I like how intricate this NoĂ«l die from Wonderful Wreath is… The “Joyeux” is from another set, “Cottage Greetings”. The little star-flowers are from Wonderful wreath too, I think it goes very well with the Petite Petals punch, doesn’t it?

Supplies (Stampin’up):

  • Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Gold Glimmer paper, gold foil sheets
  • Inks: (not SU) Delicata Golden Glitz
  • Die: Wonderful Wreath, Circles
  • Punch: Pansy, Petite Petals
  • Embellishment: (not SU) Uniball Gold gel pen, (not SU) black pearls

Flowers Square Box with Stampin’Up! Envelope Punch Board

Hi there!

The project I want to share today is a box I made with the Envelope Punch Board, the Spiral Flower Original die and the Petite Petals punch.

Shimmer and Shine - Flowers Square Box with #Stampin'Up! #Envelope Punch Board, #Spiral #Flower Original Die, #Petite #Petals Punch

For the colours, I chose to follow these as a guideline : isn’t this “scarf” lovely?colour challenge

The square box was made using the Envelope Punch Board. I used this very convenient Box Buster from The Crafty Owl to calculate the measures. The box is 4″ x 4″, and 2″ height. The lid is 3/4″. The paper must be a 9 3/8″ square for the base of the box, punch at 3 1/4″ and 6 1/8″. For the lid, the paper must be 7 5/8″, punch at 3 1/4″ et 4 3/8″.

Shimmer and Shine - Flowers Square Box with #Stampin'Up! #Envelope Punch Board, #Spiral #Flower Original Die, #Petite #Petals Punch

I mated the lid with Basic Black and another piece of kraft cardstock, and then adhered the flowers.

Shimmer and Shine - Flowers Square Box with #Stampin'Up! #Envelope Punch Board, #Spiral #Flower Original Die, #Petite #Petals Punch

The roses are made with the Spiral Flower Original Die in Very Vanilla, the little grey flowers are made with the Petite Petals Punch in Smoky Slate. The others are not from Stampin’Up!, but the cardstocks I used are Basic Black, Wild Wasabi and Vellum. A few rhinestones were added like tiny dew drops here and there…

Do you like these flowers? you can see more projects with roses here or here 🙂

I’d like to enter this box in the “It’s hip to be square” challenge from The Paper Players, although it’s not a card, it’s still square, right? 🙂

Pansy cupcake + display box for Mother’s day

Hello!

Today’s project features an idea I had for Mother’s day and the Poulette’s Blog Hop. The theme was “flowers, flowers, flowers” and I took it quite literally 😉 You can follow the blog hop at the bottom of this post. If you’re coming from CĂ©line’s blog, then you’re at the right place, in case you missed it you can begin the blog hop here. The next blog is Mylou’s… Have fun visiting these talented ladies 🙂

I wanted to create a cupcake-like flower pot where I could hide chocolate, combining two of my Mum’s loves. I couldn’t spend as much time as I would have needed on this project because I was busy welcoming our new addition to our house : our lovely baby boy, Alexandre, who was born on the 17th of May 🙂

I went on Pinterest to find a cupcake wrapper template, you can find the one I used here. I printed and fussy cut it and then decorated it with the Dots decorative Mask from Stampin’Up!, using a sponge dauber and Daffodil Delight ink pad. I used a hand punch to make the little holes on the scallop edge of the wrapper.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

For the box I had a precise idea in mind but nothing on Pinterest was close enough, so I had to figure out how to build one from scratch. If you’re interested, I’ll post later the template and the measurements. A piece of acetate allows to see the cupcake inside the box, and the sides were decorated with the same decorative mask as the wrapper. To close the box I used two little velcro stick-on adhesives (if you look at the photo below, you’ll see that one of the velcro was stuck on the “lid” part… I didn’t pay attention to that before editing the photos, ugggghhh! sorry about that.). I put a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock on the back of the box so that the cupcake stands better against the whole “dots abundance” of the box (lol). I stamped my sentiment in Elegant Eggplant on a strip of Whisper White cardstock and added a bow (love that punch!) from Elegant Eggplant cardstock on the front of the box.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

Now for the fun part: the pansies 🙂

I took my inspiration on this blog and decided to keep the same colours as the pansies were lovely. It really is very simple and easy to make, and I love “stretching” my punches and finding new ways to play with them. For the leaves I used a little punch I had in my stash, that looked a little bit like the real ones – not Stampin’Up! though.

Now for the not-so-fun part: putting everything together to make my pretend-cupcake look (almost) like a real one… I admit I struggled. But, hey, that’s how you learn, don’t you? So here is my first attempt, but I’ll try to make it better later (when I don’t have a newborn and two toddlers that require all my free time, that is… 😉 ). My intention was to fill the wrapper with chocolate and then put a piece of green felt to make a grassy background for the pansies, but it wasn’t round enough so I filled it with cotton and tried desperately to make the felt stay in place… couldn’t really figure out how to do it properly, so it’s still a bit wonky, but if you keep your eyes on the pansies, you don’t see it too much lol 😀

To carry the box and hide it until my Mum opened it, I decorated a bag with a tag and a pansy. I love these little touches that tie everything together.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

Here is a close-up of the tag :

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

The tag was made with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and a round corner punch, and a hand punch for the hole. The ribbon and baker’s twine were in my stash. A few rhinestones bring the “mandatory” bling every project must have 😉

I hope you like it… it definitely needs improvement (you can follow this blog to keep updated) but it was a fun project to make nonetheless.

If you like the pansy punch, you can find more blog posts about it here, or other 3D flowers here or there.

You can now go on hop on the next blog : next one is Mylou’s blog!

I’d like to link my project to The Card Concept Challenge : can you guess what my inspiration was? 😉

Blog Hop bokeh – Birthday shaker card

Hello 🙂

Today I’m taking part in a fun blog hop project : the first “Famous Five” blog hop ! 🙂 Well actually we were 5 at the beginning but we’re now a few more (and the more, the merrier, of course!)…

This blog hop is about bokeh. You can have a look at my previous card (I made it at Lola‘s) to see what this trendy technique is.

If you’re coming from Emilie’s blog that means you’re already in the blog roll. If not, your can follow the link to her blog at the end of this post.

Here is my contribution : I kept a similar design but I made a birthday shaker card for a little boy 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - Possum Shaker Birthday card - #Bokeh #StampinUp, #Nuts About You

I used the stamp set Nuts about You, it’s a set you can earn if you’re hosting a party and the orders reach a certain amount. I’m particularly fond of the critters and also the design of the “chubby” tree 🙂

To create the bokeh, I used Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron, I explained the technique here. The white dots are made with White Craft ink. Mine was new and very, very juicy and thick, that’s why the dots are quite opaque, next time I’ll practice with the sponge daubers on a piece of a scrap paper before applying ink on my project! The card base is Soft Suede, the sentiment comes from the Big News stamp set.

The tree was stamped in Soft Suede, another time in Wild Wasabi and last in Pear Pizzazz. I fussy cut the tree and the leaves (shame there is no coordinated die! that was a lot of work) and assembled the whole together so that the tree looked more realistic. The cute possum is stamped in Crumb Cake.

Shimmer and Shine - Possum Birthday card - #Bokeh #StampinUp, #Nuts About You

To create the shaker part, I die cut two circles in So Saffron with the framelits (I added a faux-stitching effect with a golden gel pen), then with the biggest circle I die-cut my window in a piece of acetate. I die-cut my foam adhesive too with the help of the same framelits, so convenient! Some sequins give a bit of shine and fun to shake.

Here it is… hope the little birthday boy will like it 🙂

(You can have a look at the supplies at the end of the post)

Edit from 00:44 : I just saw the perfect challenge for our blog hop… how fun is that!

Roses for my mum

Hi everyone!

Today I share a project I made for my Mum’s birthday. While surfing on Pinterest I came accross a beautiful ombre cake and it inspired me for the kind of gift I had in mind. I wanted to use the wonderful Spiral Flower Die that allows you to make the cutest little roses ever. Sadly I didn’t have any matching papers in these lovely blueish violet tones, so I went for purple instead.

Shimmer and Shine - Ombre Roses Frame - #StampinUp, #SpiralFlowerDie, #ombre, #roses, #purple, #butterfly

To die cut the roses, you just need a quarter of a A4 sheet, so each line of roses is only one cardstock for the whole frame. You have to curl up the die-cut roses to help you roll them into realistic roses, it’s a bit tricky at first but it gets easier with practice. I used white glue to adhere the flowers to their base (you may want to use a heat gun if your roses are going to be manipulated a lot, like on a box for instance, but mines were suposed to stay in a frame, so I was happy with the glue) and then I used a glue dot to stick them on the white cardstock background.

Here is a closer view of the roses. You can see I added tiny transparent pearls on some of the roses, so that it looks like dew drops. I love putting discreet details like those as a little surprise for the person who really pays attention to my work 😉

Shimmer and Shine - Ombre Roses Frame - #StampinUp, #SpiralFlowerDie, #ombre, #roses, #purple, #butterfly

I added a butterfly just because… I absolutely adore this die, it’s so delicate! But I didn’t want it to compete with the roses, so I left it white with just a rhinestone on its body. I stuck it with a glue dot directly on the glass so if my mum wanted, she would be able to take it out, but she seemed to like it too…

What do you think of my project? Do you like it?
