You’ll be remembered…

Hello,

Yesterday was the national ceremony for the people who were killed in Paris attacks. A friend of mine was deeply affected as two of her close friends were killed that day. I wanted to make something for her, to let her know her friends will be remembered and their memory honoured, even by strangers like me.

Here is my card:

These white roses are dedicated to Anne, Pierre Yves…

…and anyone suffering because of human intolerance and thirst of power.

thank you for visiting, next post will be cheerfuler, I promise 🙂

Flowers Square Box with Stampin’Up! Envelope Punch Board

Hi there!

The project I want to share today is a box I made with the Envelope Punch Board, the Spiral Flower Original die and the Petite Petals punch.

For the colours, I chose to follow these as a guideline : isn’t this “scarf” lovely?colour challenge

The square box was made using the Envelope Punch Board. I used this very convenient Box Buster from The Crafty Owl to calculate the measures. The box is 4″ x 4″, and 2″ height. The lid is 3/4″. The paper must be a 9 3/8″ square for the base of the box, punch at 3 1/4″ and 6 1/8″. For the lid, the paper must be 7 5/8″, punch at 3 1/4″ et 4 3/8″.

I mated the lid with Basic Black and another piece of kraft cardstock, and then adhered the flowers.

The roses are made with the Spiral Flower Original Die in Very Vanilla, the little grey flowers are made with the Petite Petals Punch in Smoky Slate. The others are not from Stampin’Up!, but the cardstocks I used are Basic Black, Wild Wasabi and Vellum. A few rhinestones were added like tiny dew drops here and there…

I’d like to enter this box in the “It’s hip to be square” challenge from The Paper Players, although it’s not a card, it’s still square, right? 🙂

Roses for my mum

Hi everyone!

Today I share a project I made for my Mum’s birthday. While surfing on Pinterest I came accross a beautiful ombre cake and it inspired me for the kind of gift I had in mind. I wanted to use the wonderful Spiral Flower Die that allows you to make the cutest little roses ever. Sadly I didn’t have any matching papers in these lovely blueish violet tones, so I went for purple instead.

To die cut the roses, you just need a quarter of a A4 sheet, so each line of roses is only one cardstock for the whole frame. You have to curl up the die-cut roses to help you roll them into realistic roses, it’s a bit tricky at first but it gets easier with practice. I used white glue to adhere the flowers to their base (you may want to use a heat gun if your roses are going to be manipulated a lot, like on a box for instance, but mines were suposed to stay in a frame, so I was happy with the glue) and then I used a glue dot to stick them on the white cardstock background.

Here is a closer view of the roses. You can see I added tiny transparent pearls on some of the roses, so that it looks like dew drops. I love putting discreet details like those as a little surprise for the person who really pays attention to my work 😉

I added a butterfly just because… I absolutely adore this die, it’s so delicate! But I didn’t want it to compete with the roses, so I left it white with just a rhinestone on its body. I stuck it with a glue dot directly on the glass so if my mum wanted, she would be able to take it out, but she seemed to like it too…
