A little gift for you… (decorated envelope)

Hello there!

Last week a crafty friend of mine and I exchanged some trading cards for our kids, so I sent her a little package. Of course it had to be pretty 🙂

Funny thing, this is the first time I actually made an envelope with the Envelope punch board, as I always used it to make boxes! How fun is that!

Here is my decorated envelope:

Shimmer and Shine - For you : Decorated envelope - #StampinUp, #Envelope #Punch #Board, #Butterflies Thinlits, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Spring #Circle, #Dotty Angles

The package consists of the envelope and a little card in front. A paper stripe with a big butterfly holds everything together.

On the card, I stamped the little butterflies from the Perpetual Calendar in Blushing Bride on Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment comes from the set One Big Meaning. I like that I can hide it under the paper stripe 🙂

The envelope is stamped tone on tone with the dots from Dotty Angles.

The butterfly die cut from the Butterfly Thinlits is one of my favourite. I love how intricate it is. I put a heart rhinestone on the center. The sentiment “For You” comes from the Circle of Spring.

I really like how it all turned out. It is sweet and delicate, perfect for a very nice lady 🙂

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Perpetual Calendar, Dotty Angles, Spring Circle, One Big Meaning
  • Dies: Butterfly Thinlits Dies
  • Inks: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Papers: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride
  • Tool: Envelope Punch Board

Polka Dotted Merci

Hi!

Hope you had a lovely weekend so far 🙂

Today’s card started with some inks and Stampin’Up!’s decorative mask. I didn’t know where I was going, I just wanted to have a play ^^

I looked for a color scheme on Pinterest and chose this one:

I looked for the corresponding ink pads I got, and selected Bashful Blue (the lightest shade of Blue I had, wish I had Soft Sky, I think it would have matched better with the one on the picture), Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Sahara Sand. I carefully taped my mask to make sure it wouldn’t move and randomly sponged inks to create colourful dots. Once I had the dotted background, I figured out what to do with it… put it against a Sahara Sand paper as my card base: yes, that works. But it needed to be put into relief, so I added to fine stripes of Tempting Turquoise to make it stand.

The photos are a bit dark, thanks to this lovely weather we have at the moment in Paris… 😦

Ok, then? What about a sentiment? but where to put it, because of this busy background? I had the idea of splitting my dotted background in two to reveal the sentiment directly on the card base. I chose a “thank you” sentiment from Fabuleux Quatuor, bold enough to compete with the dots, and to make sure it would stand, I stamped it in Soft Suede, a darker brown. I used the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig and a post-it note to stamp only the “merci” on the front card, reserving the rest of the sentiment for the inside. Then I mounted the dotted paper on foam tape and added some alcohol markers coloured pearls around the sentiment. I decorated the inside of the card with the same techniques.

I really like to create my own backgrounds. The funny thing is I love DSP too and tend to hoard them, but I get so mad at the idea of cutting the sheets that I never use them… how crazy is that! Please tell me I’m not the only one to do this 😉

Sale-a-Bration swap

Hello !

Today I’d like to share a card I made for a swap between Stampin’Up! Demonstrators. We were supposed to use only Sale-a-Bration items, and I tried to stretch my stamps to get something different. I liked it, but it was too much time-consuming because of the little hearts background (I made it just before Christmas) to make it multiple times for the swap!

So I went with another design, much quicker, that I’ll share later. I used the same stamp set as in this card : Eurêka.

Shimmer and Shine - #Eureka #SaleaBration #StampinUp

I started to stamp the sentiment in Tempting Turquoise but I masked off the “Merci” part with a little sticky note, in order to stamp it again later in Blackberry Bliss. With the Stamp-a-ma-jig this is very easy. I hand-cut the tag but you can get the coordinating punch to make it in a breeze 🙂

For the background I used the tiny heart chain that comes in the set. I carefully draw lines with my pencil before on the Whisper White cardstock, and again used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure I would stamp them all lined up. Then I die-cut the cardstock with one of the banner framelit die. I die-cut a bigger framelit banner in vellum and added faux-stitching with my gel pen. I kept the base of the card pretty simple as I thought the banners were already quite busy. The heart banner was stuck on the vellum using snail adhesive and that allowed me to see where I could hide my adhesive for the vellum, as I didn’t want it to show through. The sentiment has been popped-up with foam adhesive, et voilà 🙂
