Dream Theme Blog Hop #2 : Small gifts

14800898_10154607950732020_950912843_n

Hello!

Welcome to our new Dream Theme Blog Hop! This month’s theme is particularly fitting for me. As a matter of fact, I’m leaving my job as a Social Worker at a teen shelter in a week, and I wanted to create something to express how much I enjoyed  working with my colleagues, and meeting so many lovely teens. My job is quite hard, but so rewarding and I’ll miss them A LOT. I wanted to make something special for everyone, which would offer me the opportunity to hide a personnal message as well as a little treat. So… small gifts it is 🙂

If you’re coming from my beloved friend Tracy May, you’re already hopping, otherwise, please click on the blog list to start.

Well I’m feeling a bit emotional here, but I thought the little houses from the Home Sweet Home boxes were perfect to remind how much our shelter could feel like home when life happened to be hard for the teens. We had lots of fun together, laughter, cooking, and I know I will deeply miss them.

Here is what I created for each teen of my group (10) :

aaa2

that’s a whole neighbourhood lol 😉

(sorry for the poor quality of the photo, I had to take photos with my phone… I’ take more later, I’ve kept one little house for myself as a model !)

I’m making some for my colleagues too…

I used the “Home sweet home” bundle, and the heart embossing folder for the roof.

Thank you for visiting! you can now hop to the lovely Amy Koenders ! Show her some love !

World of Thanks gift box and card

Hello!

Today I want to share a gift box and a card I made as a present for a wonderful lady, who happens to be my SU upline : the lovely Tracy May. She is the sweetest person ever. She sent me some chocolate at the beginning of the year, and I wanted to thank her for everything she did for me.

I thought it was the perfect time to use the World of Thanks stamp, as I never inked it before. I love the design of this stamp, especially how it can appear as a simple background or be the star of the show, depending on how you work with it.

So here is what I made for Tracy:

Shimmer and Shine - World of Thanks gift box and card - Stampin'up

So World of Thanks is stamped in versamark and heat embossed on a Whisper White cardstock, and then I sponged some Tangerine Tango very lightly on the cardstock. It was then mated on a Tangerine Tango cardstock on a Kraft base.

Shimmer and Shine - World of Thanks gift box and card - Stampin'up

The butterfly is die cut with the Butterflies Thinlits on a Tangerine Tango cardstock. I added 3 red pearls to add interest.

Shimmer and Shine - World of Thanks gift box and card - Stampin'up

The little hexagon box is made with the same Tangerine Tango and kraft cardstock. I used the hexagon framelits to create the top panel. You can find the tutorial on how to do it here at Craftyhallett (althought I slightly changed the dimensions). I loved the little boxes she made and they caught my eye on Pinterest : go have a look! 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - World of Thanks gift box and card - Stampin'up

The flower is made with 3 pansies punched and glued together with a Petite Petal on top. The center of the flower and the leaves are made with other punches, not SU though. Again I added a pearl at the center of the flower. If you’ve visited my blog a few weeks ago, maybe you remember seing this flower before : it’s almost the same I put on my easel card.

The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set and it fits perfectly on the smallest banner die cut.

Of course if you were wondering, I put some chocolates in the gift box 😉

I hope you like it 🙂

thanks for visiting!

A little gift for you… (decorated envelope)

Hello there!

Last week a crafty friend of mine and I exchanged some trading cards for our kids, so I sent her a little package. Of course it had to be pretty 🙂

Funny thing, this is the first time I actually made an envelope with the Envelope punch board, as I always used it to make boxes! How fun is that!

Here is my decorated envelope:

Shimmer and Shine - For you : Decorated envelope - #StampinUp, #Envelope #Punch #Board, #Butterflies Thinlits, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Spring #Circle, #Dotty Angles

The package consists of the envelope and a little card in front. A paper stripe with a big butterfly holds everything together.

Shimmer and Shine - For you : Decorated envelope - #StampinUp, #Envelope #Punch #Board, #Butterflies Thinlits, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Spring #Circle, #Dotty Angles

On the card, I stamped the little butterflies from the Perpetual Calendar in Blushing Bride on Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment comes from the set One Big Meaning. I like that I can hide it under the paper stripe 🙂

The envelope is stamped tone on tone with the dots from Dotty Angles.

Shimmer and Shine - For you : Decorated envelope - #StampinUp, #Envelope #Punch #Board, #Butterflies Thinlits, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Spring #Circle, #Dotty Angles

Shimmer and Shine - For you : Decorated envelope - #StampinUp, #Envelope #Punch #Board, #Butterflies Thinlits, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Spring #Circle, #Dotty Angles

The butterfly die cut from the Butterfly Thinlits is one of my favourite. I love how intricate it is. I put a heart rhinestone on the center. The sentiment “For You” comes from the Circle of Spring.

I really like how it all turned out. It is sweet and delicate, perfect for a very nice lady 🙂

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Perpetual Calendar, Dotty Angles, Spring Circle, One Big Meaning
  • Dies: Butterfly Thinlits Dies
  • Inks: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Papers: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride
  • Tool: Envelope Punch Board

Christmas Swap part 3: Surprise Explosion Box

Hello 🙂

Today I’ll show you the last part of my Christmas Swap. You can see the stamped scarf here and the card here.

The 4th item being a chocolate teddy bear, I had to make a surprise for my 3rd creation. Well, that kept me wondering for quite a long time: what actually is a surprise? I had no details on how to interpret the cue word. I came to the conclusion that it’s something you don’t expect (I know, I know… 😉 ). So I decided to make something that wouldn’t look like what it really was… I remembered my friend’s Valérie beautiful explosion box and decided to create my own version:

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

The pop of the Real Red bow is one part of the surprise, as the rest of my swap is quite monochromatic. I used the score board to create my explosion box in Marina Mist cardstock and decorated it with the background stamp Dotty Angles in two shades of blue, Marina Mist and Soft Sky. The sentiment comes from last year’s Sale-a-Bration SU stamp, but it was too perfect to not use it.

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

The lid makes the explosion box sturdy enough, and the Whisper White panels make it even sturdier. The cute little bow is, of course, made with the bow builder punch.

Here is the inside:

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

Again, pops of red with the Petite Petals flowers and the rhinestones on the butterflies. I coloured them with alcohol markers 🙂

The inside white panels are decorated with ferns and splatters from Awesomely Artistic stamp set. The butterflies were cut with the Bold Butterflies thinlit dies and the Butterfly thinlit dies. The sentiment insides means “The best is yet to come” and it comes from the eponymous stamp set.

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

(Love this little bow! 🙂 )

So this was my surprise item and that finishes my Christmas Swap. I hope you liked it 🙂 Sadly I forgot to take a picture with all my presents…

Supplies:

  • Stamps : Awesomely Artistic, The Best is Yet to Come, Dotty Angles, (Retired) Grande Journée (sentiment),
  • Dies: Butterfly thinlits, Bold Butterfly thinlit dies,
  • Punch: Bow Builder punch, Petite Petals
  • Inks: Marina Mist, Soft Sky,
  • Papers: Marina Mist, Real Red, Whisper White
  • Embellishment: Basic Jewels Rhinestones
  • Tool: Score Board

Teachers’ gift : Chocolate and Butterflies

Hello 🙂

Unfortunately I haven’t had much time to craft lately, but I whipped up a little something for my daughter’s teachers, for the end of year. I wanted to use the butterflies that were left over after this card, but I needed something not too girly as Daphnée had 2 female teachers and 1 male during the year.

I decided to use the Curvy Keepsake thinlit to make a little box and a matching card.

Here is what I came up with:
Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

I left Daphnée decide which box she would give to each of her teachers. She gave the pink one (her “favourite”) to her main teacher 😉

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

The middle parts of the box were stamped with dots from Dotty Angles stamp set, in Chocolate Chip ink.

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

The butterflies are sponged in dark tone in the middle and the edges of the wings are coated with gold glitter glue. Too bad the photography “flattens” the colours 😦

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here Pink) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here blue) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here green) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Here is the matching card I made: I kept it very simple too.

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here green) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Pansy Favour Box

Good Evening!

Today I was invited to a crafty afternoon with the wonderful Lola. I wanted to bring her a little present, and I thought Linda’s lovely little gift box was the perfect opportunity for that. Not only is it beautiful, but it doesn’t need any adhesive so I was eager to give it a go. Go and watch Linda’s video on how to make it 🙂
Shimmer and Shine - Pansy Favour Box - #StampinUp, #GiftBox, #Pansy #Punch

I used Basic Grey cardstock for the box, the flower is made with the Pansy punch and the Petite Petals punch.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy Favour Box - #StampinUp, #GiftBox, #Pansy #Punch

The cardstock colours I used are Basic grey and Smoky Slate for the box and Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon for the flower.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy Favour Box - #StampinUp, #GiftBox, #Pansy #Punch

A few pearls were added to add a glamourous touch to the flower. A ribbon (from my stash) closes the box.

This favour box would be perfect for a wedding or a baby shower : it’s not too big but you can still put a lot of sweets inside 😉

Hope you like it 🙂

Supplies (Stampin’Up!) :

  • Stamp sets : Tiny Tags
  • Inks : Smoky Slate, Soft Sky
  • Papers: Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, soft Sky, Lost Lagoon
  • Punch: Pansy, Petite Petals, Tiny Tag
  • Embellishment: Pearls Basic Jewels Embellishment

Roses for my mum

Hi everyone!

Today I share a project I made for my Mum’s birthday. While surfing on Pinterest I came accross a beautiful ombre cake and it inspired me for the kind of gift I had in mind. I wanted to use the wonderful Spiral Flower Die that allows you to make the cutest little roses ever. Sadly I didn’t have any matching papers in these lovely blueish violet tones, so I went for purple instead.

Shimmer and Shine - Ombre Roses Frame - #StampinUp, #SpiralFlowerDie, #ombre, #roses, #purple, #butterfly

To die cut the roses, you just need a quarter of a A4 sheet, so each line of roses is only one cardstock for the whole frame. You have to curl up the die-cut roses to help you roll them into realistic roses, it’s a bit tricky at first but it gets easier with practice. I used white glue to adhere the flowers to their base (you may want to use a heat gun if your roses are going to be manipulated a lot, like on a box for instance, but mines were suposed to stay in a frame, so I was happy with the glue) and then I used a glue dot to stick them on the white cardstock background.

Here is a closer view of the roses. You can see I added tiny transparent pearls on some of the roses, so that it looks like dew drops. I love putting discreet details like those as a little surprise for the person who really pays attention to my work 😉

Shimmer and Shine - Ombre Roses Frame - #StampinUp, #SpiralFlowerDie, #ombre, #roses, #purple, #butterfly

I added a butterfly just because… I absolutely adore this die, it’s so delicate! But I didn’t want it to compete with the roses, so I left it white with just a rhinestone on its body. I stuck it with a glue dot directly on the glass so if my mum wanted, she would be able to take it out, but she seemed to like it too…

Shimmer and Shine - Ombre Roses Frame - #StampinUp, #SpiralFlowerDie, #ombre, #roses, #purple, #butterfly

What do you think of my project? Do you like it?

Teachers gift – Christmas 2014

Hello!

Today I’ll share the little gifts I made for my daughter’s teachers. If you have seen my last post, you’ll recognize the design! I loved the card so much, I had to make a variation with different colours.

I made a star-shaped box and a matching card for both teachers. I figured out how to make the star box myself, learning from my (many!) mistakes, but you can follow this very convenient tutorial from my friend Tracy. A little time consuming, but simple and effective 🙂

I made the first one in Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate :

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers gift Christmas 2014 - #StampinUp #Star #Framelit Dies - Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate

and the second one in Pool Party and Smoky Slate :

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers gift Christmas 2014 - #StampinUp #Star #Framelit Dies - Pool Party and Smoky Slate

The sentiment is not from Stampin’Up! : I don’t have any French greetings for Christmas… yet 😉

Of course, I filled the boxes with chocolates 🙂 and Daphnée “wrote” a little message for her teachers inside the card.

Supplies (Stampin’Up!):

  • Stamp set: Many Merry Stars
  • Inks: Blushing Bride, Pool Party, Smoky Slate
  • Dies: Stars Framelit Dies
  • Papers: Whisper White cardstock, Smoky Slate cardstock
  • The Rhinestones were coloured with alcohol markers. You can use the wonderful Blendabilities to match whichever colour you want : how cool is that?

If you would like to order any of the items used on the project above, you can click on my on-line shop or just send me an e-mail, I’ll be very happy to help you with your order.

Nursery gifts

Hello!

Sorry I’ve been a long time without posting but we are currently packing in order to move back to France in two weeks… Lots and lots to do before leaving, and sadly crafting is not a priority! But I managed to make little presents for the staff at Daphnée’s nursery. They have been really really great, and I wanted to thank them for making nursery enjoyable for Daphnée.

I wanted something bright and cheerful, and because it is holiday time, I thought I would use a little clearlit die I got from my friend Tracy (Stampin’Up Demonstrator). This little whale is so cute!

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time

The treat bags where created after these treat boxes from Tracy, but I added a flap on top. The background is created by stamping the fishes and shell in Versamark ink. the ribbon is originally white but I coloured it with Promarkers to fit the colour scheme.

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

I used a few Lawn Fawn stamp sets for the sentiment and names, and dies to create the tags and speech bubbles. The white stripes on the tag are made with a new Stampin’Up stencil, I applied Moonlight White Archival pigment ink from Tsukineko with a sponge dauber. It’s a very creamy white and it covers very well the yellow. The cute little whale is die-cut from a paper that was stamped with Versamark too (did I mention that I love this watermark effect? 😉 )

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

Of course I had to make matching bags to carry these little cuties. Daphnée first went to the Ladybird group when she was a baby and then moved last year to the Bumblebees. I made two bags, one for each group :

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

Pretty much the same techniques explained above were used to decorate the bags. 4 treat bags fit perfectly in each bag:

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

Last but not least, I filled the treat bags with chocolates… 🙂

I hope the ladies at the nursery liked it… I must say I enjoyed a lot sneaking in my craft room after hours of sorting and packing 😉

  • Inks : Memento Tuxedo Black, Tsukineko Brilliance Moonlight White, Versamark Ink, Stampin’Up Daffodil Delight

Butterfly gift wrap

Hi everyone !

Not a card today, but a gift wrap I decorated. Some times ago I bought a very nice white craft wrap paper, very elegant, but when the present is large, too much white can be… boring. So it had to be customised!

My friend Tracy, a wonderful Stampin’up Demonstrator, was showing on her facebook page the colours she was playing with, and it has inspired me. I just wanted a little extra so I added Stampin’up Pumpkin Pie for a pop of colour.

Shimmer and Shine - Butterfly Gift Wrap   Shimmer and Shine - Butterfly gift wrap
