Christmas Swap part 3: Surprise Explosion Box

Hello 🙂

Today I’ll show you the last part of my Christmas Swap. You can see the stamped scarf here and the card here.

The 4th item being a chocolate teddy bear, I had to make a surprise for my 3rd creation. Well, that kept me wondering for quite a long time: what actually is a surprise? I had no details on how to interpret the cue word. I came to the conclusion that it’s something you don’t expect (I know, I know… 😉 ). So I decided to make something that wouldn’t look like what it really was… I remembered my friend’s ValĂ©rie beautiful explosion box and decided to create my own version:

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

The pop of the Real Red bow is one part of the surprise, as the rest of my swap is quite monochromatic. I used the score board to create my explosion box in Marina Mist cardstock and decorated it with the background stamp Dotty Angles in two shades of blue, Marina Mist and Soft Sky. The sentiment comes from last year’s Sale-a-Bration SU stamp, but it was too perfect to not use it.

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

The lid makes the explosion box sturdy enough, and the Whisper White panels make it even sturdier. The cute little bow is, of course, made with the bow builder punch.

Here is the inside:

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

Again, pops of red with the Petite Petals flowers and the rhinestones on the butterflies. I coloured them with alcohol markers 🙂

The inside white panels are decorated with ferns and splatters from Awesomely Artistic stamp set. The butterflies were cut with the Bold Butterflies thinlit dies and the Butterfly thinlit dies. The sentiment insides means “The best is yet to come” and it comes from the eponymous stamp set.

Shimmer and Shine - Christmas Swap part 3 : Surprise Explosion Box - #StampinUp, #Bold #Butterfly, #Bow #Builder #Punch, #Awesomely #Artistic, #Dotty #Angles, #Best is Yet to come

(Love this little bow! 🙂 )

So this was my surprise item and that finishes my Christmas Swap. I hope you liked it 🙂 Sadly I forgot to take a picture with all my presents…

Supplies:

  • Stamps : Awesomely Artistic, The Best is Yet to Come, Dotty Angles, (Retired) Grande JournĂ©e (sentiment),
  • Dies: Butterfly thinlits, Bold Butterfly thinlit dies,
  • Punch: Bow Builder punch, Petite Petals
  • Inks: Marina Mist, Soft Sky,
  • Papers: Marina Mist, Real Red, Whisper White

Poulettes’ blog hop #6 – Halloween and embossing!

Hello!

  • Sorry, this post will be translated very soon! You can follow my blog (newsletter or RSS feed) so you’ll know when I post a new creation! 🙂

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! Black Cat Curvy Keepsake - #Stampin'Up, #Curvy #Keepsake

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar

Comme cette fois j’Ă©tais contente de mon fantĂŽme (cute, celui-lĂ ), j’ai voulu faire un petit ballotin assorti, que voici :

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar

Shimmer and Shine - Boo! - #Stampin'Up, #Sheltering #Tree, #Little #Letters, #Perpetual #Calendar, #Curvy #Keepsake

ouf ! c’Ă©tait pas gagnĂ© ce blog hop, mais je crois que je m’en suis pas si mal tirĂ©e 😉 ça vous plait ?

Produits (Stampin’Up!) :

  • Tamponds : Arbre Protecteur, Perpetual Calendar
  • Papiers : Murmure Blanc, Noir Nu, Gris Souris, Divine Aubergine
  • Inks : Memento Tuxedo Black, Gris Souris,
  • DĂ©coupes : Framelits Cercles, Little Letters

Teachers’ gift : Chocolate and Butterflies

Hello 🙂

Unfortunately I haven’t had much time to craft lately, but I whipped up a little something for my daughter’s teachers, for the end of year. I wanted to use the butterflies that were left over after this card, but I needed something not too girly as DaphnĂ©e had 2 female teachers and 1 male during the year.

I decided to use the Curvy Keepsake thinlit to make a little box and a matching card.

Here is what I came up with:
Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

I left DaphnĂ©e decide which box she would give to each of her teachers. She gave the pink one (her “favourite”) to her main teacher 😉

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

The middle parts of the box were stamped with dots from Dotty Angles stamp set, in Chocolate Chip ink.

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

The butterflies are sponged in dark tone in the middle and the edges of the wings are coated with gold glitter glue. Too bad the photography “flattens” the colours 😩

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here Pink) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here blue) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here green) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Here is the matching card I made: I kept it very simple too.

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours : here green) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers' gifts : Chocolate and Butterflies (3 colours) with matching card - #StaminUp, #Curvy #Keepsake, #Butterfly Framelits, #Dotty #Angles

Supplies (Stampin’Up!) :

  • Stamp sets : Fabulous Four, Dotty Angles
  • Inks : Chocolate Chip
  • Dies : Butterfly Thinlit Dies, Curvy Keepsake Thinlit dies

Pansy cupcake + display box for Mother’s day

Hello!

Today’s project features an idea I had for Mother’s day and the Poulette’s Blog Hop. The theme was “flowers, flowers, flowers” and I took it quite literally 😉 You can follow the blog hop at the bottom of this post. If you’re coming from CĂ©line’s blog, then you’re at the right place, in case you missed it you can begin the blog hop here. The next blog is Mylou’s… Have fun visiting these talented ladies 🙂

I wanted to create a cupcake-like flower pot where I could hide chocolate, combining two of my Mum’s loves. I couldn’t spend as much time as I would have needed on this project because I was busy welcoming our new addition to our house : our lovely baby boy, Alexandre, who was born on the 17th of May 🙂

I went on Pinterest to find a cupcake wrapper template, you can find the one I used here. I printed and fussy cut it and then decorated it with the Dots decorative Mask from Stampin’Up!, using a sponge dauber and Daffodil Delight ink pad. I used a hand punch to make the little holes on the scallop edge of the wrapper.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

For the box I had a precise idea in mind but nothing on Pinterest was close enough, so I had to figure out how to build one from scratch. If you’re interested, I’ll post later the template and the measurements. A piece of acetate allows to see the cupcake inside the box, and the sides were decorated with the same decorative mask as the wrapper. To close the box I used two little velcro stick-on adhesives (if you look at the photo below, you’ll see that one of the velcro was stuck on the “lid” part… I didn’t pay attention to that before editing the photos, ugggghhh! sorry about that.). I put a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock on the back of the box so that the cupcake stands better against the whole “dots abundance” of the box (lol). I stamped my sentiment in Elegant Eggplant on a strip of Whisper White cardstock and added a bow (love that punch!) from Elegant Eggplant cardstock on the front of the box.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

Now for the fun part: the pansies 🙂

I took my inspiration on this blog and decided to keep the same colours as the pansies were lovely. It really is very simple and easy to make, and I love “stretching” my punches and finding new ways to play with them. For the leaves I used a little punch I had in my stash, that looked a little bit like the real ones – not Stampin’Up! though.

Now for the not-so-fun part: putting everything together to make my pretend-cupcake look (almost) like a real one… I admit I struggled. But, hey, that’s how you learn, don’t you? So here is my first attempt, but I’ll try to make it better later (when I don’t have a newborn and two toddlers that require all my free time, that is… 😉 ). My intention was to fill the wrapper with chocolate and then put a piece of green felt to make a grassy background for the pansies, but it wasn’t round enough so I filled it with cotton and tried desperately to make the felt stay in place… couldn’t really figure out how to do it properly, so it’s still a bit wonky, but if you keep your eyes on the pansies, you don’t see it too much lol 😀

To carry the box and hide it until my Mum opened it, I decorated a bag with a tag and a pansy. I love these little touches that tie everything together.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

Here is a close-up of the tag :

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy cupcake gift box - #StampinUp, #Pansy punch, #DotsDecorativeMask

The tag was made with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and a round corner punch, and a hand punch for the hole. The ribbon and baker’s twine were in my stash. A few rhinestones bring the “mandatory” bling every project must have 😉

I hope you like it… it definitely needs improvement (you can follow this blog to keep updated) but it was a fun project to make nonetheless.

If you like the pansy punch, you can find more blog posts about it here, or other 3D flowers here or there.

You can now go on hop on the next blog : next one is Mylou’s blog!

I’d like to link my project to The Card Concept Challenge : can you guess what my inspiration was? 😉

Pansy Favour Box

Good Evening!

Today I was invited to a crafty afternoon with the wonderful Lola. I wanted to bring her a little present, and I thought Linda’s lovely little gift box was the perfect opportunity for that. Not only is it beautiful, but it doesn’t need any adhesive so I was eager to give it a go. Go and watch Linda’s video on how to make it 🙂
Shimmer and Shine - Pansy Favour Box - #StampinUp, #GiftBox, #Pansy #Punch

I used Basic Grey cardstock for the box, the flower is made with the Pansy punch and the Petite Petals punch.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy Favour Box - #StampinUp, #GiftBox, #Pansy #Punch

The cardstock colours I used are Basic grey and Smoky Slate for the box and Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon for the flower.

Shimmer and Shine - Pansy Favour Box - #StampinUp, #GiftBox, #Pansy #Punch

A few pearls were added to add a glamourous touch to the flower. A ribbon (from my stash) closes the box.

This favour box would be perfect for a wedding or a baby shower : it’s not too big but you can still put a lot of sweets inside 😉

Hope you like it 🙂

Teachers gift – Christmas 2014

Hello!

Today I’ll share the little gifts I made for my daughter’s teachers. If you have seen my last post, you’ll recognize the design! I loved the card so much, I had to make a variation with different colours.

I made a star-shaped box and a matching card for both teachers. I figured out how to make the star box myself, learning from my (many!) mistakes, but you can follow this very convenient tutorial from my friend Tracy. A little time consuming, but simple and effective 🙂

I made the first one in Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate :

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers gift Christmas 2014 - #StampinUp #Star #Framelit Dies - Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate

and the second one in Pool Party and Smoky Slate :

Shimmer and Shine - Teachers gift Christmas 2014 - #StampinUp #Star #Framelit Dies - Pool Party and Smoky Slate

The sentiment is not from Stampin’Up! : I don’t have any French greetings for Christmas… yet 😉

Of course, I filled the boxes with chocolates 🙂 and DaphnĂ©e “wrote” a little message for her teachers inside the card.

Supplies (Stampin’Up!):

  • Stamp set: Many Merry Stars
  • Inks: Blushing Bride, Pool Party, Smoky Slate
  • Dies: Stars Framelit Dies
  • Papers: Whisper White cardstock, Smoky Slate cardstock
  • The Rhinestones were coloured with alcohol markers. You can use the wonderful Blendabilities to match whichever colour you want : how cool is that?

If you would like to order any of the items used on the project above, you can click on my on-line shop or just send me an e-mail, I’ll be very happy to help you with your order.

I’ll be back… soon :)

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while without posting, and I didn’t have a chance to explain why it took me so long to write again. We moved from England to France less than a month ago, and we had internet cut off by our provider very early, in fact it was a (bad) surprise. Then once in France, it took very long to have internet in our new apartment, and anyway we were busy unpacking and trying to settle in our new home. Not easy, especially with a toddler and a baby running around 😉

Our eldest (which will turn 3 at the end of next month) has started preschool last week and it’s been a lot for her to deal with (new country, new language, new house, new friends, new teacher…), so it’s  still a bit complicated. She’ll be fine eventually, but for the moment she needs a lot of care and attention, and so does our youngest.

Needless to say, I feel like my Mojo is still hidden somewhere in an unpacked box, I’m struggling to find it back but I long to create again! I hope you’ll bear with me in the meantime.

Now for the creation part, I decided to share a project I made some times ago, using the same technique as in the negative die-cut I did here. In fact, I made this card set and the box before, but couldn’t share it yet as I was planning to offer it.

Shimmer and Shine - Die cut bird box and matching card set

(Sorry for the photo quality, the light was not very good and I had little time to edit it.)

Again as for the thinlit word die-cut, the technique is quite simple : you cut stripes of papers and you glue then side by side, then you die-cut your shape (here, the little bird on the branch) on a piece of white cardstock and you adhere it using foam adhesive to give depth. Of course a few rhinestones had to be added around the bird ;). Don’t forget to stamp your sentiment before adhering the cardstock, or you’ll have trouble stamping it nicely (been there, done that… :p )!

Here is a closer view of the box :

And the inside :

Like this little bird ? you can find it here in its Christmas version, along with its birdhouse 🙂

I hope this will help you wait until next post, where I may have some exciting news to share… 🙂

Nursery gifts

Hello!

Sorry I’ve been a long time without posting but we are currently packing in order to move back to France in two weeks… Lots and lots to do before leaving, and sadly crafting is not a priority! But I managed to make little presents for the staff at DaphnĂ©e’s nursery. They have been really really great, and I wanted to thank them for making nursery enjoyable for DaphnĂ©e.

I wanted something bright and cheerful, and because it is holiday time, I thought I would use a little clearlit die I got from my friend Tracy (Stampin’Up Demonstrator). This little whale is so cute!

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time

The treat bags where created after these treat boxes from Tracy, but I added a flap on top. The background is created by stamping the fishes and shell in Versamark ink. the ribbon is originally white but I coloured it with Promarkers to fit the colour scheme.

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

I used a few Lawn Fawn stamp sets for the sentiment and names, and dies to create the tags and speech bubbles. The white stripes on the tag are made with a new Stampin’Up stencil, I applied Moonlight White Archival pigment ink from Tsukineko with a sponge dauber. It’s a very creamy white and it covers very well the yellow. The cute little whale is die-cut from a paper that was stamped with Versamark too (did I mention that I love this watermark effect? 😉 )

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

Of course I had to make matching bags to carry these little cuties. Daphnée first went to the Ladybird group when she was a baby and then moved last year to the Bumblebees. I made two bags, one for each group :

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

Pretty much the same techniques explained above were used to decorate the bags. 4 treat bags fit perfectly in each bag:

Shimmer and Shine - treat bags - a whale of a time!

Last but not least, I filled the treat bags with chocolates… 🙂

I hope the ladies at the nursery liked it… I must say I enjoyed a lot sneaking in my craft room after hours of sorting and packing 😉

Have a lovely day 🙂

Happy 2nd birthday, DaphnĂ©e !

My daughter DaphnĂ©e turned 2 last October, a wonderful occasion to play with my stamps and markers…

I made this invitation and a cute treat bag for every little guest. I absolutely adore all Lawn Fawn stampsets and I wanted the party theme to be “critters of the Forest”, as where we live here in UK, foxes often come to visit our garden. I also didn’t want something too girly or pink. I think girls and boys deserve a full rainbow of colours, not only pink or blue stuff!

Here is the invitation :

And here is the card and the treat bag :
